you need to learn how to treat people who come into your shop. a few weeks ago i walked in with cash in my pocket ready to buy. i was looking for a nice fixed gear and i was also in the market for a reload bag. i walked in and you and your female staff member looked at me like i was a yuppie who just walked into a biker bar (pun not intended - i am not a yuppie by any means). i proceeded to look around for a minute whilst under the stare (glare?) of your female “helper” there. no hi, how are you?, no, hi can we help you?.. nothing. i walked out. and will never walk back in. i will also do my best to make sure my ride friends know that you lack any form of customer service in your shop. it’s culture is very unfriendly and cold. i sir took my $1500 (cash!) to another shop and had great service and i am now the proud owner of a new reload bag and a sweet fixed ride. too bad, it looked like you could have really used the money.

    Ouch!

Must not have been my bike shop, we make a point of at least saying hello to everyone who walks in the door! I’m at the Veloshop everyday and don’t often glare at people to make them uncomfortable. That would be bad business. Plus, some people don’t like to be bugged while they are shopping. Everyone takes it so damn personally!

PS: only yuppies call people “staff members” and make fun of other people for looking like they need money…

    Amen, Molly.
Before I ever stepped foot into Veloshop, I thought it would be weird to go in there, not really knowing shit about anything… but after the first time, I’ve never felt uncomfortable at all. No matter how simple/common knowledge my question is. I am comfortable asking in Veloshop. I always get a Hi or something, so that is weird for that person to say that.

And yes, some people don’t like to be bugged while shopping. I for one am one of those people, which is why I stick to the smaller shops like velo. i go into somewhere bigger and every few minutes am hounded by one of the people who work there. If I need help/have a question. I will ask.

and yeah. i think yuppies are the ones who expect someone to jump up the moment they walk in and be there right by their side doing whatever they can…. oh well.

Maybe next time I shouldn’t stare err…glare at customers while I hang out with you at the shop. Maybe he’ll leave a post about how rude I was to him over at RCB too. ;) hmmpf.
